We are SO pumped that our photography resonated with you and you booked a session with us! Family photos are an amazing way to celebrate you and your loved ones and what makes you all unique. But for some parents, the thought of taking family photos can sound more stressful than enjoyable.
Thankfully, it doesn't have to be that way. With a seasoned family photographer, and some "rhythmic" preparation you can have a great experience and capture great memories with your family. As your family portrait photographer, we're here to provide you with timeless family portraits that articulate all the fun, friendship, and love in your whole squad.
The Process
The Rhythm prides itself in building a "rhythmic groove" for our photo sessions. The experience is just as important as the delivery. We love the combination of natural lighting and being outdoors.
Imagine an environment that consist of laughing, exploring, twirling, and family connection. Outdoor sessions typically take place at sunset or sunrise. You have lots of location options for an outdoor session such as open fields, trails, gardens, local parks, getting ice cream, lakes, the woods… The options are endless! We have some favorites that to suggest but we also love shooting at new locations or explore a place that has meaning for your family.
What to wear?
When it comes to family portraits, the question that pops up is "what should we wear?" Taking photos that will last a lifetime might get you to think twice, but the good news is your family will look great by wearing things that feel like YOU. Your authenticity wins every time.
We recommend clothing that makes you feel comfortable, and reflect who you are. You don't have to match but rather coordinate with each other outfits. Try to stay away from large logos or graphics as they can be distracting and can date a photograph. We're happy to consult you and provide examples that will get you going.
Length of Session
Believe it or not, they go pretty fast. Our family portrait sessions rarely last for more than an hour. Within this time frame we excitingly get a diverse and adequate gallery captured. When photographing with children you have to keep them moving and engaged or else they lose interest fast. 😂
