Wedding Planning Stages

Before your big day, we want to give you some insight into our pre-wedding process. At The Rhythm, we understand the stress of wedding planning and the overwhelming feelings that come with it.

To make things easier for you and your wedding vendor team, here's what we recommend:

  1. About a month before your wedding, all the details will start falling into place. Either you or your wedding planner should create a comprehensive list of every single wedding vendor, from the caterer and cake baker to the florist and photographer. Once you have this list, email it to all your vendors. This will facilitate communication among your wedding vendor team and provide them with a master list for reference after the wedding.

  2. Share the timeline you create with your vendors as well! We also encourage couples to collaborate with their photographer, videographers, and planner to develop a timeline that works for everyone. This will ensure a stress-free wedding day for all involved.

  3. Relax and don't hesitate to reach out to your vendor team if you have any questions. We are here for you and more than happy to address any concerns you may have!

The Getting Ready Stage

Next, let's discuss the preparation process. Often, preparations begin well before the photographers and videographers reach the location. We recommend getting ready in a space with natural light, preferably in front of windows if available. Natural light is always ideal for capturing great photographs and videos. If necessary, we can bring additional lighting, but natural light is most flattering for your skin.

Typically, your hair and makeup team will aim to find a spot with natural light, but it's always helpful to suggest it if needed. If you're getting ready at a hotel, it's worth discussing this with them as some hotels have better window options than others.

Natural light also enhances the beauty of putting on your dress and showcasing details. Speaking of details, we also recommend having a box containing all your wedding day essentials. This may include:

  • Invitations and Save The Dates

  • Rings

  • Shoes

  • Garter

  • Special Jewelry

Having these items in a designated box allows photographers and videographers to easily access and capture shots of them upon arrival, without needing to search for each individual piece. You can even entrust the box to your maid or matron of honor so that they can have everything ready when we arrive.

Letter Reading or Vows Audio

If you're considering exchanging letters or private vows on your wedding day, we find these moments to be truly magical and special, and we would love to capture them for you. For our own wedding, we opted for traditional vows during the ceremony, but we wrote personalized vows to share just before our first look. There are countless unique and meaningful ways to incorporate this into your wedding, so feel free to reach out to us for ideas!

We have some valuable tips to ensure that these moments are captured and expressed beautifully.

First, we'll guide you to a serene, quiet space to ensure you can relax and focus. Wedding days can be bustling, and it's important for you to feel calm and undisturbed.

When reading your letter or vows, take your time and speak as if you're having a heartfelt conversation with your partner.

If you stumble over your words, don't worry—just keep going.

Allow yourself to express all your emotions freely; after all, it's a deeply significant and emotional day. We cherish genuine and authentic moments!

Couples Session and First Look

We always recommend the first look to our couples. While it's not mandatory, about 75% of our couples opt for it, as we believe it helps the wedding day run more smoothly. There are several reasons we encourage a first look, but the main one is that it eases some of the anxiety and stress of the day.

The first look gives you the chance to see your best friend and share a private moment before the day becomes busy and chaotic. Take this time to savor the moment together. We capture the first look and then give our couples a few minutes alone to soak in each other's presence.

Additionally, it allows us to have a couple's session before the wedding and a brief sunset session after the ceremony. (We absolutely adore sunset sessions and highly recommend incorporating them into your schedule.) For sunset sessions, we typically whisk the couple away from the reception to capture a few more shots. These short sessions usually last only 15 minutes, but you will be delighted you took the time for them!

Family Photographs

As wedding videographers, we usually don't take family photos during the wedding. We leave that space to the photographer so they can focus on capturing your family portraits. However, by arranging these photos before the wedding ceremony, it allows us to prepare for the ceremony. To make things smoother for your photographers, we recommend collaborating with them to create a list of family photos before the big day!

The Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony is one of our favorite parts of the wedding day. It is the moment you each get to commit your lives to the other. We capture every single ceremony using three cameras, and we usually place a microphone on the officiant and the groom. This allows us to get high-quality audio of the officiant and of the bride and groom.

If you plan on having readings, a soloist or vocalist, or anything unique in the ceremony let us know, so we can be sure to take steps to make sure this is recorded for you. There is nothing worse than a surprise reading, and there is nothing we can do once the ceremony has started.

The Reception

The celebration begins! You're officially married! Take a moment to unwind and dance the night away with your loved ones. We have no specific recommendations, just have fun and make the most of the party. You might even find us joining you on the dance floor!

The Exit

Whether you choose a sparkler exit, bubbles, flower petals, streamers, or another imaginative way to bid you farewell, we recommend pausing in the midst for a kiss or the timeless dip and kiss. This presents a wonderful photo opportunity and a special moment with all your guests celebrating your union as husband and wife! After all, you are now married and embarking on a lifetime with your best friend!
